Our Company

The firm was founded in Hartford under the name Russell O. Hooker, Consulting Actuary. In 1969, Shepherd M. Holcombe joined with Mr. Hooker to incorporate Hooker & Holcombe, Inc.

Presently located in West Hartford, CT, H&H is a privately held firm. Most of the principals of the firm are Enrolled Actuaries and either Associates or Fellows of the Society of Actuaries. These designations are the highest levels of actuarial recognition in the United States, and are gained only by passing a series of examinations generally requiring five or more years of study and on-the-job experience.

In the 50 years since we've been in business, we've seen our staff grow to 55 employees. Our actuaries and benefit consultants are supported by a team of experienced employee benefit analysts. Our information systems staff is equipped to support client needs as well as our in-house systems. We also have specialists in other areas, such as employee communications and education, and administration.

Our client base is diverse and includes large corporations, small businesses, non-profit entities, municipalities, hospitals and professional organizations. Our clients are both regional and national.
